The Abecasis family
The stud is a family project in which everyone is involved. Every horse born at Quinta do Pilar is treated as one more member of the family.
Founders
Henrique and Maria João Abecasis founded the stud and are the driving force behind everything it is today.
Together they laid the foundations of the stud on historic Lusitano bloodlines, and they continue to follow all its activity closely, now run day to day by the next generations. The stud is, in every sense, the result of their passion for the horse.
The next generation
The youngest members of the family grow up at Quinta do Pilar, among mares, foals and competition days. They ride, follow the work and learn how to look at a horse.
We also do this for them: we want them to keep the same passion and commitment we have today.
