An education that begins on day one

Easy to handle, confident and healthy horses. That is the result of work that begins long before anyone rides them.

From birth to backing

At Quinta do Pilar, a horse's education begins the day it is born.

Our foals are handled from their first weeks and grow used to people in a natural way. This early work makes them horses that are easy to handle every day.

As a result, every moment of contact, such as hoof trimming to prevent injuries and limb conformation faults, deworming or weaning, takes place calmly, safely and without trauma for the foal. They grow up seeing people as partners they can trust.

Backing begins at three years old, always after a full veterinary examination (vet check) that includes screening for hidden conditions such as osteochondrosis (OCD or chips). Anyone who chooses one of our horses knows it began its ridden work on a sound, assessed physical foundation.

Each horse's own time. Some horses mature later and need more time at certain stages of their development. When they need it, we give them that time: a well-prepared horse is worth more than a rushed one.

Nikita do Pilar

Luso Warmblood mare foaled in 2018, by Desperando out of Aristocrata do Pilar, by Desperados FRH. Sensitive and immensely talented, she is currently competing at Prix St. Georges and has clear potential to progress to the highest levels of dressage. Her character and training make her an excellent partner for an ambitious young rider aiming to compete in Young Riders, or for a rider who wants to take her all the way to Grand Prix. Her youth and the considerable room she still has to progress make her an investment for the future.

Pure Bred Lusitano stallion foaled in 2022, by Neptuno das Faias out of Fábula de Tineo, by Quixote MVL. Despite his youth, he already shows great aptitude for sport and a good temperament that makes him easy and pleasant to work with. He will soon start competing at Preliminary level and is the ideal horse for anyone looking for a young stallion with the quality to develop and progress in sport. We are eagerly awaiting his development.
